The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards in Marrakech on Monday night saw the announcement of Ademola Lookman, the Nigerian striker for Atalanta, as the 2024 African Footballer of the Year.

On his quest to win this year award , he defeated the likes of Achraf Hakimi who plays for PSG , simon Adingra who plays for the ivory coast national team and Brighton in england and Guinea's Guirassy to clinch the prestigious award. In 2023, while starring for Galatasaray, Victor Osimhen won the trophy, making him the second Nigerian player to do it in a row.
