From an abandoned mine near Stilfontein, South Africa, six dead individuals have been recovered.
It's still unclear how many miners are still underground. According to one local source, there were about 4,000 people trapped, although authorities estimate the number is probably in the hundreds.
The abandoned goldmines which is located 150km towards southwest of johannesburg have been in recent times partrolled by the police, This was part of the effort by the government to prevent those who were using the mine illegally.
