Martin Joseph Figueira, a Portuguese national living in Belgium, has been charged by the government of the Central African Republic of spying for some Western nations, including the US. In Zemio, Haut-Mboumou, Figueira was taken into custody on May 25 and has been held for the past two months.

He has numerous charges against him ranging from spying, conspiracy, inciting hatred and funding terrorist organization.

​ Although the allegations is being rejected by family health international 360, the government also claim that they have tangible evidence against him which includes an audio evidence.

His lawyer and FHI 360 are concerned about the conditions of his incarceration at the military camp in De Roux.
