The city of Yagoua has been hardest hit by the unheard-of deluge that has pounded Mayo Danay in Cameroon's Far North over the past few weeks.
Reports indicate that the devastation is substantial, with over 1,100 cattle lost, 185 elementary schools and 13 secondary institutions flooded, and at least ten fatalities.
As it stands currently , meeting the basic needs like food and shelter has become a difficult task for most locals.

The human cost is astounding. 8,000 homes have been damaged, and more than 200,000 individuals have been impacted.

A makes shift camp outside the city has been provided from the victims . But because they have lost everything, the sufferers are pleading for extra relief immediately. Although many residents believe that this amount is insufficient considering the severity of the problem, the government is giving away 350 million CFA francs in relief for the victims. As of right now, canoes are still the only practical mode of transportation, and if immediate action is not done, there are concerns that the area may become totally isolated.
