Lee Shau-kee who is regarded as one of Hong Kong's Real Estate Mogul has passed away at the age of 97.
Henderson Land Development, his real estate company, of which he served as chairman for over 40 years, made the announcement.
"In the presence of his family" was how the firm described Lee's death in a statement, although it did not say why.
In the city, he was among the wealthiest men. His net worth was listed by Forbes in February at little under $30 billion (£23 billion).
He was also a generous individual who made important donations to employment development programs and educational institutions. In 2007, he received the Grand Bauhinia Medal, Hong Kong's highest honor, for his social accomplishments.
