History has been made in Nambia as it has elexted her First Female president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.
Almost 60 years after joining the liberation movement to fight for Namibia's independence from South Africa's apartheid, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah received her swearing in as Namibia's first female president on Friday, becoming the country's top official.
She has now join the list of African women that went on to become o=head of state in their respective countries which include Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia, Joyce Banda of Malawi, and Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania, Nandi-Ndaitwah, 72, became one of the few female leaders in Africa after winning an election in November.
Incumbent President of Tanzania , president Hassan , Sirleaf and Banda were some of the dignitaries that graced the occasion.
The 35th celebration of Namibia's independence was marked by Nandi-Ndaitwah's swearing-in; however, due to severe weather, the ceremony was moved from a soccer stadium, where thousands were expected to attend, to the officially presidency office. She made Promise to restore the country's Economy and protect it at all cost.
