The popular Congolese artist Delcat Idengo, whose real name is Delphin Katembo Vinywasiki, was slain in Goma, in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), when he was making a music video.
His head wounds, which were apparently caused by a gunshot, were discovered on Thursday. The identity of the attackers is yet to be known.
The deceased musician was well known for his songs that strongly criticized both the biasedness of the government and the invasion of the insurgents.
This can be seen in his most recent song which he titled Bunduki which translates to weapon in swahili where he publicly criticized the invasion of the rebels.
He had just sprung out of prison amid a city-wide M23 rebel raid. Idengo, who was previously imprisoned for provoking demonstrations and denouncing President Félix Tshisekedi, was a strong voice for a large number of young Congolese people.
