Guinea's government reported Monday that the stampede at a football stadium in southern Guinea, which followed fan conflicts, claimed 56 lives and injured numerous more.
Telecommunication Minister Fana Soumah said in a statement broadcast on national television that authorities are investigating the stampede on Sunday to determine who was responsible.
