It's not uncommon for actors to transition into producers after they achieve a certain level of fame. With a producer credit, an actor can be more involved in the actual production and ensure that the director and team uphold the standards they demand. Given his early box office success, Will Smith started working as a producer right away. He has continued to do so in both his own films and other productions of his colleagues.
Smith executive produced a few episodes of his hit comedy series when The Fresh Prince Of Bel-last Air was airing. Additionally, he made use of the position to promote members of his family, including his daughter Willow and son Jaden in the remake of Annie and the film Life in a Year, respectively. In addition, Smith has backed important social documentaries and upcoming directors like Gina Prince-Bythewood.
▶️ The Pursuit of Happyness
In The Pursuit of Happiness, Smith made one of the few appearances with his biological son Jaden. Despite the fact that actors who share the screen with their own children typically don't succeed, Smith was able to capture the difficulties of being a loving parent in this true story of Chris Gardner and his career as an aspiring salesperson in the 1980s. While living without a home, Gardner encounters many difficulties and fights to sustain himself, but he ultimately succeeds due of his love and devotion to his son. The Pursuit of Happiness was commended by The New York Times for being "nothing like the average success tale depicted on-screen."
▶️Emancipation
Smith experienced one of the toughest periods of his career as the fugitive slave Peter who escapes from slavery at the height of the American Civil War. Smith's more modest portrayal made the movie significantly more difficult as he showed respect for such delicate subject matter. Since filmmaker Antonie Fuqua does not hold back when displaying graphic material during Peter's escape from the bounty hunter Fassel, Emancipation is not for the faint of heart (Ben Foster). But it took this brutality to illuminate a terrible chapter in human history. Smith acknowledged that some viewers might not want to watch Emancipation in light of the Oscars controversy as a sign of respect for the audience.
▶️ I, Robot
I, Robot is an underappreciated future noir directed by Alex Proyas that Smith both produced and starred in. It is an action sci-fi film with gorgeous production design and insightful commentary on the nature of artificial intelligence. Del Spooner, an anti-tech homicide detective, is followed in the 2035 film I, Robot as he investigates the death of Alfred Lanning, the creator of U.S. Robotics (James Cromwell). Despite the cautionary message in the film against over-reliance on technology, Spooner and the robotic prototype Sonny enjoy an intriguing relationship (Alan Tudyk).

A truly multifaceted actor.
Of the 4 movies, I have already seen two. Emancipation and Wakanda forever are two on my list to see. Of the two I've already seen, I lean more towards The Pursuit of Happiness, where I particularly believe that he perfectly embodied the loving father who does what is necessary to keep his family well, despite having an unhappy marriage. Definitely, money, or the scarcity of it, is the main cause of divorces in the world.
