When nature tells you it's angry, this is what happens - greenhouse damage. / Cuando la naturaleza te dice esta enojada pasa esto - Destrozos en los invernaderos.

Ayer en horas de la tarde llovió de una manera que jamás había visto, en mi vida había presenciado tanta agua junta, tanto viento y por un periodo de tiempo tan largo. Llovió aproximadamente a las 5:40 de la tarde y por 45 min, pero esto fue suficientes para causar destrozos en toda la zona, afortunadamente nosotros habíamos terminado las labores y nos refugiamos de la lluvia, aunque no sin mojarnos, pero al saber que esto no paraba nos imaginamos lo peor de todos los cultivos nuestros y de la zona, cuando por fin dejo de llover fuimos a ver algunos de los daños, evaluamos que tan peligroso seria una nueva lluvia. Pero lo peor lo vimos hoy en horas de la mañana.

Yesterday afternoon it rained in a way that I had never seen before, in my life I had witnessed so much water together, so much wind and for such a long period of time. It rained approximately at 5:40 in the afternoon and for 45 minutes, but this was enough to cause damage throughout the area, fortunately we had finished the work and we took shelter from the rain, but not without getting wet, but knowing that this did not stop we imagined the worst of all our crops and the area, when it finally stopped raining we went to see some of the damage, we evaluated how dangerous it would be a new rain. But we saw the worst today in the morning hours.

Aquí la época de verano es muy extrema, pero según cuando llega la época de lluvias, todo lo acumulado de 1 año se junta y hace lo que pasó, llover como si hubiese mañana, sin embargo muchas personas estiman que los daños pudieron haber sido peores, pero para mi es algo que jamás olvidaré.

Here the summer season is very extreme, but according to when the rainy season arrives, all the accumulated rain of a year comes together and does what happened, it rains as if there were tomorrow, however many people believe that the damage could have been worse, but for me it is something I will never forget.

La lluvia fue tal que llevaba un poco de corriente, esto debido al agua que bajo de las montañas, se junto con las demás corrientes y formaron un cause parecido al de un rio pequeño, este cause se desbordo por todo el pueblo, buscando por donde salir el agua entro a las casas de las personas, cultivos, granjas de pollos, invernaderos, todo lo que pudiese estar en su camino. Nosotros fuimos los únicos que evaluamos los daños apenas termino de llover, yo no podía irme sin ver que había pasado, tenia ganas de llorar e impotencia a la vez.
De los 4 invernaderos, uno de ellos sufrió daños importantes, que no pudimos observar esa misma noche, el resto de los invernaderos los fuimos a ver para abrir un poco un cause para que el agua que estaba dentro de ellos saliera. Literalmente los pimentones estaban bajo el agua.

The rain was such that it carried a little current, this due to the water that came down from the mountains, it joined the other currents and formed a cause similar to that of a small river, this cause overflowed all over the town, looking for where to get out the water entered the houses of the people, crops, chicken farms, greenhouses, everything that could be in its path. We were the only ones who assessed the damage as soon as it finished raining, I could not leave without seeing what had happened, I felt like crying and helplessness at the same time.
Of the 4 greenhouses, one of them suffered major damage, which we could not see that same night, the rest of the greenhouses we went to see to open a little cause for the water that was inside them to come out. Literally the peppers were under water.

Pudimos ver como nuestro cilantro estaba bajo el agua y lleno de lodo, todo eso se perdió, o en su gran mayoría.

We could see how our cilantro was under water and full of mud, all of that was lost, or mostly lost.

Luego que llueve es ley fumigar con polvo mojable las plantas, son una especie de fungicida que además protegen contras los rayos del sol y las plantas y frutos no se quemen.
Así que fue una completa travesía fumigar hoy con la cantidad de lodo que había, creo que en mi vida había hecho algo parecido, y el peso de la manguera cuando se llenaba era increíble, nuestro personal tuvo que entrar sin botas para poder moverse libremente.

After it rains it is the law to fumigate the plants with wettable powder, they are a kind of fungicide that also protects against the sun's rays and the plants and fruits do not get burned.
So it was a complete journey to fumigate today with the amount of mud that was there, I think I had never done anything like that in my life, and the weight of the hose when it was filled was incredible, our staff had to enter without boots to be able to move freely.

Ahora si momento de evaluar las perdidas, y para sorpresa mía fueron mas personas afectadas de las que me imaginé hoy todos estaban reunidos hablando sobre lo ocurrido, conozco a la mayoría de los productores y todos fueron afectados por esta lluvia. Algunos tenían destrozos menores y otros mas graves, sin embargo todos comenzaron rápido con las reparaciones, pues muchos de ellos tenían cultivos operativos y había que reparar las mallas para evitar que la plaga entrara.

Now it was time to evaluate the losses, and to my surprise there were more people affected than I imagined, today everyone was together talking about what happened, I know most of the producers and all of them were affected by this rain. Some had minor damage and others more serious, however all of them started quickly with the repairs, as many of them had operational crops and the nets had to be repaired to prevent the pest from entering.

Para hacerse una idea de cuanto llovió, imaginen dos pequeñas lagunas que no tienen plástico, y tenían años sin llenarse, además de eso la tierra es suelta y filtra, ambas se llenaron, a una de ellas le tome un fotografía, al igual que esta hay muchas mas, incluso la que tenemos para regar, se lleno hasta el tope, solo con agua de lluvia.

To get an idea of how much it rained, imagine two small ponds that do not have plastic, and had years without filling, besides that the soil is loose and filters, both were filled, one of them I took a picture, like this there are many more, even the one we have for irrigation, was filled to the top, only with rainwater.

Hoy mas que nunca nos dimos cuenta que cuando la naturaleza quiere recuperar lo suyo no hay nada que la detenga, no hay como calcular que tan graves serán los daños, no se pueden evitar, simplemente queda esperar y ver como superar estas pequeñas pruebas. La lluvia es imparable, y arrasa con todo a su paso.

Today more than ever we realized that when nature wants to recover what is hers there is nothing to stop her, there is no way to calculate how serious the damage will be, it cannot be avoided, we just have to wait and see how to overcome these small tests. The rain is unstoppable, and sweeps away everything in its path.

Mañana nos toca una larga jornada de reapariciones, limpieza, mantenimiento y de rogar por que no ocurra lo mismo de nuevo, reforzar las mallas y muchas mas cosas.
Cosas que pasan en el oficio y en algún momento pasaría.
