Hello Everyone!
I hope you are doing well...
This is my first time visiting a tea factory, and I was very excited to see the whole process. I visited the Labookelle tea factory in Nuwara Eliya.
They take batches of visitors and explain the complete process of tea manufacturing. And later she takes us on a visit to the factory and explains each process. She even lets us identify different qualities of tea.
Inside the factory, visitors aren't allowed beyond the glass door. But anybody who visits can get a good idea of how the fragrant and the quality of tea is made. And especially how big the process is. It is actually very interesting to know how this leaf is transformed into an energy-boosting, refreshing drink.
Most machines are used in different stages of production. I saw very less manpower involved in the process in the factory.
As per the fermentation, the grading of the tea depends, and then it is categorized into different gradings. Some commonly found gradings in Srilanka are BOPF(Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings) and BPS (Broken Orange Pekoe). After fermentation, the tea tasters assure the quality of the product to be released.
The surroundings of the tea factory were very eye-catching with the foggy climate.
The baby fell fast asleep, I think because of the cold climate.
Hubby and I couldn't resist walking around and taking pictures with the sleeping baby in hand. The surroundings of the tea estate were incredibly beautiful.
Lastly, we went to the tea lounge area to taste a hot cup of tea. The quality and the unique aroma of the tea were amazing to experience in this cold foggy climate.
