This bird, seemingly common and obvious, always surprises me with its intelligence. Of course, we measure everything by our own standards, but bird intelligence goes far beyond ours - it is similar to human intelligence, but different.
Ten ptak, niby powszechny i oczywisty zawsze zaskakuje mnie swoją inteligencją. Oczywiście mierzymy wszystko naszą miarą, ale ptasia inteligencja znacznie wybiega ponad naszą - jest zbliżona do ludzkiej ale jednak inna.
There are many primitive instincts and unconditioned reflexes in these birds. When they are getting to the food, they look around just before eating it or placing the seed in their beak, and right after they have it, they look around again, watching for danger.
Dużo w tych ptakach pierwotnych instynktów i odruchów bezwarunkowych. Gdy dobierają się do pokarmu rozglądają się tuż przed spożyciem, czy umieszczeniem ziarna w dziobie, a zaraz po jego zdobyciu znowu się rozglądając wypatrując zagrożenia.
The phenomenon is their simultaneous take-off into flight. This does not only apply to jackdaws but also to other birds. They are able to take off simultaneously for a collective flight in the blink of an eye. I have never managed to spot the instigator of such a situation.
Fenomenem jest jest jednak ich jednoczesny start do lotu. To nie dotyczy tylko kawek ale również innych ptaków. Potrafią one bowiem w mgnieniu oka zerwać się jednocześnie do zbiorowego lotu. Nigdy nie udało mi się wypatrzeć prowodyra takiej sytuacji.
These incredibly intelligent birds surprise me every day. I haven't yet figured out how to feed them by hand, but I'm getting close. They sit on a bench near me and wait for a treat.
Te nadzwyczaj inteligentne ptaki zaskakują mnie codziennie. Nie wypracowałem sobie jeszcze metody karmienia ich z ręki, ale jestem już blisko. Siadają bowiem na ławce blisko mnie i czekają na poczęstunek.
They are not pushy, they are patient and polite. They calmly watch my movements, attentively observing the whole surroundings.
Nie są nachalne, są cierpliwe i grzeczne. Ze spokojem spoglądają na moje ruchy, baczenie obserwując całe otoczenie.
