Actually a dictator, he usurped the presidency for four illegitimate years, he controlled everything in this country for eight years, he had the congress the supreme court, the police, the army as his office boys. He did whatever he wanted. Nevertheless he had to give in to not running for president a third time, and the opposition won. This was his undoing, if the guy from his party had won he would probably be Ok.
Just a week after the presidential change the US revoked his visa accusing him of corruption. Then a week later, yesterday February 14 the US asked for his extradition. They made a big show out of it, with over 600 police and army numbers surrounding the area where he lived and they stayed until today when a judge ordered his capture. He will most probably be extradited to the US where he will face charges of drug trafficking (supposedly 500 tons of cocaine), weapon trafficking, and illicit association with criminal groups. In fact there are 32 charges against him but these are the extraditable ones.
He served the US extremely well during 8 years, they backed his illegal regime, and now they are back stabbing him. We had to stand this criminal for eight years because it was good for US interests, just as soon as they can't use him, he is screwed, he was backed by Obama and Trump so not a party thing. But, in any case nearly everyone here is glad of his capture and eventual imprisonment, he has very few friends left.
