I think one of the greatest things about starting on a new platform is that I have an incredible store to choose from and post about. Old subjects, stories, music- all becomes fresh again. And since this is a place of talent and creativity, it seems only fitting that in addition to writing I would bring my brother's music here :)
This is not only one of my favorite of the songs he's written and performed, it is on point about the issues facing the world. It could have served as the soundtrack for yesterday's post in fact. I think of it as foreshadowing, since it was written five years ago but has even more meaning today.
Ready By Ed Iseley
The lyrics were inspired when a friend of his, a fellow singer/songwriter, was attacked online.
Ironically, the song that got everyone's panties in a twist was about acceptance. And it angered people to the extent that death threats were sent to the poor guy!
It was also right around the time of the 2016 election, which to me was the true beginning of the madness that has consumed this country in terms of politics. Did I mention I was a political atheist? You will never see a post from me praising the actors and circus clowns they call politicians.
And how about one more? This was also written around the same time, for another friend struggling with a different set of issues. It is an encouraging, uplifting song, that could be applied to many different people's issues in life and the people who love, and support them, and believe that they can get through to the other side :)
Stronger
My brother and I are very similar, our natures and also how we view the world. We have a gift of truly seeing people, which is why when we find friends it's rare that we lose them. Loyalty and integrity are extremely important to us, particularly from ourselves.
We are eight years apart, but even with such a gap we have been close since childhood. Though our bond strengthened considerably when we lost our sister, the middle child, many years ago in a car accident. We knew true sorrow at a young age, and also grew a much deeper understanding of the temporary nature of this life.
I did manage to recruit him to steemit for a time, unfortunately by the time he started getting into it, it had already changed and the level of engagement had significantly declined. But if I continue to see more engagement here, I will definitely talk to @ed-the-songster about joining :)
Hope you enjoyed the music, and be sure to Make it a Great Day...Blurtians? Blurt peeps? Haha, let me know what the correct vernacular is! :-)

Thank you! :)
Great song!! love it. Really great performer too. Love the guitar, wow!
He is truly amazing. How far are you from Rochester? He plays out almost every weekend in that area :)
Pretty far, too far for me to travel for a night out for sure. But if he's ever near Wellsville, I'd catch it. Does he play with a band? I listened to that second recording and boy is he ever good! He's the whole shebang - lyrics, music comp, vocals, guitar are all fabulous.
You never know what the future holds. He has played out our way :)
He has played with bands, but generally it's just him. I'll take video of his next show, you can see how he works as a one man band 😊
I would love that.
