Sugar has caught alot of flack in the past decade, as a major

Sugar has negative effects on the body, and can lead to metabolic disorders and an increase in consumed "empty calories". In addition, sugar can cause cavities, weight gain and other expensive health maladies. Sugar can also reduce your sleep quality and give you anxiety.
Sugary food may be cheaper than some healthy food, but you will pay for this in the future as your health declines due to an overconsumption of sugar in your diet.

How can you reduce your sugar intake?

In 2009, I decided to reduce my sugar intake, and lost 30-pounds of unhealthy weight in 6-months. I put my mind to getting healthy, and cut sugar out. Sugar withdrawl is real, and my symptoms included headache, loss of energy and grogginess. These withdrawls lasted for a few weeks, and after they passed, I felt more rested, more alert and more healthy than ever. It was worth it.

Consider cutting out sodas, soft drinks and other caloric-heavy liquids. Replace this consumption for water, tea and coffee. Avoid adding milk or sugar into your coffee and tea to reduce your sugar intake.

Avoid desert, convience stores and aisles in the grocery stores where sugary snacks lurk. Avoiding temptation is key. Sugar is addictive and being exposed to sugary snacks in reach can bust your sugar-cutting diet.

Replace sugary snacks you love with something similar. Consider cutting candy bars for apples, oranges, beef jerky and mango. Natural sugars in fruit are accompanied by fiber and vitamins making them nutrient dense and nutritious.

Keep working to cut your sugar, it is worth it. Thanks for reading!
