BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

in blurthealth •  4 years ago

It is no longer a news that breast cancer forms in the cells of the breast and a deadly one at that. Though, most people doesn't know that breast cancer occurs both in male and female but female have the highest percentage of infected patients. Male breast cancer is rare and usually occurs at old age. I will limit this post to female breast cancer.

Breast lump, a newly inverted nipple, redness of the skin over the breast, changes in size, shape and appearance of a breast are so.e of the symptoms found in women who has breast cancer. Changes in any part of the body is influenced by an alteration in any of the body parts. As a matter of fact, cancer generally occurs as a result of cells that grows abnormally in a particular region of the body. And for breast cancer, the breast cells that grow abnormally is responsible for it.

There is no single cause for breast cancer yet, however, genetic makeup and environment are the two suspected causes of breast cancer.

If you have close relatives who have had breast cancer or ovarian cancer, you may have a higher risk of developing breast cancer.
However, because breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, it's possible for it to occur in more than one family member by chance. Most cases of breast cancer do not run in families, but genes known as BRCA1 and BRCA2 can increase your risk of developing both breast and ovarian cancer. It's possible for these genes to be passed on from a parent to their child.

Having known that the cause of breast cancer is not yet confirmed, preventive measures should be exercised.

  • Eat good foods (fruits and vegetables inclusive).
  • Exercise your body atleast 30 minutes daily.
  • Drink alcohol in moderation if at all.
  • Self-examine your breast.
Becoming familiar with your breast is essential. Any change in the breast, be it redness, its shape, lump and other changes should be reported to the doctor immediately to be on a safer side. This breast-examination doesn't prevent breast cancer but brings to the awareness of the affected female that she's likely in danger in case of any change.

Despite putting a preventive measures in place, if you later find yourself having an advanced breast cancer, mastectomy might be the only way out.
