Attending workshop on drug resistant tuberculosis ~ second day

Today I am attending the second day of workshop on drug resistant tuberculosis. This event was held at the Permata Hati Hotel, Banda Aceh. Yesterday I have got some latest updates regarding regimens for the treatment of drug resistant tiberculosis. Today I will learn about the side effects of drugs used for MDR TB treatment.

Tuberculosis is indeed one of the main health problems in Indonesia. There are so many tuberculosis patients in Indonesia who have not received treatment properly. In addition, many patients have received treatment, but they do not carry out the treatment well, so that many of them experience resistance to tuberculosis drugs.

Today's speaker, Dr. Dewi, a pulmonologist, is explaining about the side effects of tuberculosis drugs. She also explains about TB treatment in special conditions such as pregnancy, HIV, diabetes mellitus, and kidney failure. In such special conditions, TB treatment must be adjusted. And we also would be controlling the side effects of TB treatment and treatment of these other diseases.

I think that tuberculosis treatment is not easy. There needs to have collaboration with several experts in the treatment of drug-resistant tuberculosis. The cooperation of various parties will help eradicate tuberculosis in Indonesia.

Hari ini saya akan mengikuti workshop hari kedua tentang TB Resistant obat. Acara ini diadakan di Hotel Permata Hati Banda Aceh. Kemarin saya telah mendapatkan update terbaru mengenai regimen untuk pengobatan tiberculosis resistant obat. Hari ini saya akan mendengarkan materi tentang efek samping obat-obatan yang dipakai untuk pengobatan MDR TB.

Tuberculosis memang adalah salah satu masalah kesehatan utama di Indonesia. Sangat banyak penderita Tuberculosis di Indonesia yang belum mendapatkan pengobatan. Selain itu, banyak juga pasien yang telah mendapatkan pengobatan, tetapi mereka tidak menjalakan pengobatan tersebut dengan baik, sehingga banyak di antara mereka yang mengalami resistensi terhadap obat-obat tuberculosis.

Speaker hari ini, dr Dewi, seorang pulmonologist menjelaskan tentang efek samping obat tuberculosis dan juga pengobatan TB pada kondisi khusus seperti kehamilan, HIV, diabetes mellitus, gagal ginjal. Pada kondisi khusus seperti itu, pengobatan TB harus disesuaikan. Dan juga mengontrol efek samping dari pengobatan TB dan pengobatan penyakit-penyakit lainnya tersebut.

Saya pikir memang pengobatan tuberculosis tidaklah mudah. Perlu kerjasama antara beberapa ahli dalam pengobatan tuberculosis resistant obat. Kerjasama berbagai pihak akan membantu memberantas tuberculosis di Indonesia.
