After several rounds of testing, the Covid vaccine, a joint venture between Pfizer and Bioentech, was approved for public use on December 9 as the first vaccine. Just hours after mankind began dreaming of the possibility of creating a new world by killing the coronavirus, President Vladimir Putin announced the start of commercial production of Russia's much-discussed covid vaccine, Sputnik-5. He also officially announced the mass vaccination campaign in Russia.

Since the announcement, the vaccine has come under renewed scrutiny. The use of the word 'new' has given rise to much controversy and discussion since its inception.
