As we get a little older, excess body weight becomes a problem for us. An obese person is more likely to have diabetes, high blood pressure and various heart diseases. So the first advice for them is to lose weight.

Now people use various methods to lose this weight. There is no substitute for a variety of physical exercises ranging from changes in diet to losing excess body weight. Many of us try to follow a planned diet. In fact, most of these diet plans are to avoid fatty foods and eat more fruits and vegetables.Although such eating habits are well known, they are not very effective for everyone. There are many people who have completely eliminated fatty foods and are exercising, but they are not losing much weight. Doctors advise people suffering from such problems to follow a special diet plan. The name of such a diet is Keto diet.

What is the Keto Diet?
Glucose is the main source of energy in our body. Carbohydrates provide the body with the required amount of glucose. This glucose provides energy through the circulation of blood in different organs of the body. Thus, as much glucose is needed, the extra part starts to accumulate in our body after it is used. And this is how our body weight continues to increase.

It has been observed that carbohydrates are more responsible for weight gain than fats. The Keto diet actually reduces the intake of these sugary foods. The emphasis is on foods that are high in fat and protein.

As mentioned earlier, glucose is the main source of energy in our body. When sugary foods are eaten less, the body does not get the required amount of glucose. The body then begins to use body fat to provide energy. Ketone bodies are made by breaking down this body fat. Then ketone bodies supply energy to the body instead of glucose. This process is called ketosis. And hence the name keto diet or ketogenic diet.
