The case of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 is still worrying in Indonesia. Because, every time the number of people exposed is getting higher. Reflecting on the cases of the Omicron variant in Indonesia and the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) for Covid-19, Dr Maria Van Kerkhove reminded that the pandemic is far from over. Even the WHO says there is a new variant that may be more virulent than Omicron.

He said the new variant in the future will be more powerful. So the new variant is easier to evade immunity and make the vaccine less effective. Allegedly, the Omicron variant in Indonesia itself will experience the peak of the rising wave in mid-February to early March 2022. This is reflected in the majority of the increase in Omicron cases in the world which occurred in a very fast period ranging from 35 to 65 days.

Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin said 90 percent of Omicron's local transmissions occur in DKI Jakarta. The government through the Ministry of Health will strengthen health services. Other things that support it are optimizing the service system, meeting the needs of medicines, oxygen and ensuring the safety and health of health workers who are at high risk of being exposed to the virus.
