Growing up at the tail end of self-sustainability like homemade canning of fruits and jams, the whiffing smell of old socks of homebrew, picking fruit from the trees and vines, growing a vegetable patch to pick the rewards for the table.
At the time not really taking much notice of really learning these skills as they seemed such a chore as it was more fun as a kid to go to the supermarket to shop and much less time consuming giving more time to play.
When it came to the healing of sickness it was the modern way of going to the doctor, getting a prescription, then to the chemist.
In products on the market today there are more plant, natural products making a come back as more people are learning the effects of chemical ingredients put in products, as all our knowledge is different and the more I learn and soak up there are niggly questions that I ask myself on ingredients that are popular that are said to be natural. Everyone has a different point of view which is fabulous as it would be boring if we all thought the same.
The more knowledge I learn, I have started trying out ideas, ingredients that I personally didn't know much about, which two are Herbs and Fasting with both, my thought process was that only spiritual, traditional people and certain cultures used these practices, but anyone can learn them, it just was to find the right knowledge as many people learn and put their own spin on it.
The best way for myself, I've just tried everything to see what works best for myself and things that I don't feel 100 percent comfortable with I dig deeper for information.
The reason one may fast can be for different reasons also: spiritual, cultural, weight loss, health benefits, healing just to name a few.

My personal fasting experience...
After doing a little bit of research on different types of fasting, I thought I was ready to give it a try.
Physically doing something than reading it is a different experience go figure... right!
Over the last year, I've done four fasts on the last one which was the longest I've tried lasting 13 days, when I finished the 13 days was when I spoke to someone that does them yearly, that's when I realized I was focused on health not the wholeness of fasting which is health, healing, mental, spiritual, physical and life lessons.
Everyone's fasting experience may be different, with the four that I've done each was different...just like having children!
The first time I lasted two days, trying a water fast I was so hungry that I ended up gauging on food, I tried a few days later and lasted seven days doing a water, and juice fast, (only when I was feeling hungry but was pushing them back), plus doing enema's, also I was taking spirulina and Chlorella tablets which the Chlorella helps a bit with the hunger. With the enema's I did for three days then I tried an Epson salt cleanse which was meant to give similar results as an enema, cleansing, I felt more ill effects from the Epson salt cleanse, plus it took longer by hours to exit, where the results of the enema exited straight away lasting approx 15 minutes.
With fasting, you go through periods of detox which everyone can experience different effects like headaches, dizziness, hunger pains.
Unfortunately on the seventh day, I was staving that I gauged again which is wrong to do as I should have gone through stages like a baby does being weaned on food, liquid-like soups, and juices, soft foods than harder foods which taking my time of every few days introducing the next level or longer if possible.
Doing these two fasts I lost a few kilos of weight, felt a little better healthier in one way, the other felt sick from the disappointment of not being able to last longer.
The third time I did it was a good 7 months after the first two where I lasted three days taking 250mls of juice every hour twelve juices a day, after doing this one there were noticeable appearance differences with some freckles getting smaller, some getting lighter.
I was swapping between one grown under the ground and one grown on top, and swapping between savory and sweet. Trying to keep to on ingredient in a juice at a time.
The fourth time was close to a week after the third try where I lasted thirteen days but kind of cheated as I did eat at times when I was hungry I ate a banana or the fruit pulp from the juices this did help as I did this at the start and weaned myself off, the water I drank 3.7 liters a day, plus juiced 250mls 4-5 times a day or when I was feeling a bit hungry, plus herbal tea fresh from basil and peppermint or ginger tea.
This time I took each day as it came and put in goals, like two days, then seven days, ten days, fourteen days, twenty-one days, forty days, forty-one days, this goal-setting did help as I didn't feel like I completely failed as I reached quite a few goal days.
I stressed at the end of the third day which leads to excruciating stomach pain, so the next day I slowly started having soups and slowly over the next few weeks going back on to food. This time it wasn't about weight loss it was about enhancing my health by cleansing my body and also lighten the load on my organs from years of unhealthy eating, which in turn lost eight kilos, which was a bit to much which put me in the underweight line, but my health was better apart from being underweight which is now back in check, I had lost a lot of weight before doing the fasts from changing the food I ate, the fasts added to losing more weight also.
Talking to someone about my experience they explained how they fast every year, it takes six months to mentally and physically prepare for a month-long fast, by lowering the intake of food, they eat two small meals during the fast and drink water before these meals, this is the only time they intake liquid, these small meals are eaten at dawn and dusk.
I've also been reading other blogger's experience's with fasting where they felt that they could do a longer fast by making special herbal tonics, teas, and in-taking 3.7 liters of water, that helped with cleansing different parts of the body.

My personal experience with herbs...
My experience started slowly with using herbs in salads like dill, parsley, bay leaves in soups, peppermint in teas that was my extent, then I started using herbal supplements like spirulina, Chlorella, then hemp oil, with using all three did help with health benefits.
Then I tried a mix of herbal tonic supplement powders like milk thistle, teas like chamomile, hemp, milk thistle, and many others that I was trying out that helped with cleansing different parts of the body like the liver, kidney, help with energy and other ailments.

With herbs there are different potency's the more the potency the more likely it will aid with healing benefits, herbs are medicine they should be handle like medication in the way of doses, as one could overdose from taking to much, this is where knowledge of herbs and the amounts/dosages that can be consumed.
Herbs may help with different ailments like pain, cleansing, function support, healing benefits, weight loss it's finding out what each herb may help with, it will also depend on each person how the herb may affect them such as environment, stress, sickness, disease, the potency of herbs, how the herbs are prepared should all be taken into consideration. Herbs used as medication should be researched at the length of time they can be consumed as they could possibly cause effects.

The three wise men gave Jesus gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, which frankincense and myrrh are herbs that are said to have health benefits, which were used in Jesus time for healing ailments.
Different cultures use herbs in history and some even today still use herbs for healing like in Chinese and Indian medicine.
I've tried fasting and a few herbs which I've found to have help with weight loss, better health functions like cleansing the body from toxins, helping with clearing up bodily functions such as toxic fluctuation from eating certain foods that my body didn't agree with, helping with reducing blood test results some functions were reduced by half.
As I learn there are more herbs I would like to try to see what the health benefits are, your experiences may be different to mine, plus your health and many other factors could result in different results and effects, I'm not a medical professional in any way, this is not intended as medical advice in any way or form please ask a professional for advice, as I'm only sharing my own personal journey and thoughts.

Yet another inspiring post by you. I agree that herbs can heal and fasting is important. Every culture around the world fasts in some way.
The way you were fasting is good but it can make you weak. You must always meet your basic calorie requirements.
I have also tried cleansing my body and a few years back I did try the Master Cleanse. It was intense and my body felt light after I did the cleansing routine a few times.
Thank you @imransoudagar.
Everyone fasts differently, yes agree I fasted a tiresome why, I asked a friend after fasting that fasts during holy month once a year, they gave me lots of tips to try next time.
Master cleansers are quite intense also, alot of the cleansers and fasts are trying to reinvent the wheel than going back to grass roots of our ancestors.
Thank you for visiting a pleasure as always.
