A Tale of FIRE vs. ICE WATER

Hello Splinterfans!

At each stage of the game, you may be thinking about which Splinter you should have your focus on. When you are just starting and trying to get to grips with the game and later on when you need to invest and upgrade your deck.

At the beginning of your Splinterlands journey, you are looking for combinations that work and give you a decent amount of success. You also want something powerful without very many weaknesses. When I started out, my main focus was on the earth splinter and I was using Mylor Crowling quite a bit. With his thorns buff, this very often would give you an edge.

This week we will look at the fire splinter and next week the water splinter and then decide which splinter comes out on top. Which do you think it will be?

Once I progressed up the leagues, I became more and more attracted to the fire splinter. Here my main summoner of choice has been Tarsa. At only a 4-mana cost, she gives an extra melee and health buff to your team. The fire monsters usually have a low health score, so this can be vital.

There are some other choices though. Conqueror Jacek can be quite powerful with his speed, scattershot, and piercing buffs. If you have a low mana match, then there is also the summoner Malric Inferno that you can choose for battling in the wild leagues. Lastly, for those who want maximum power, there is the very powerful Yodin.

For me though, Tarsa has been a great value summoner to buy and not so expensive to level up. I am also often renting Malric Inferno as he can be rented very often at an inexpensive price on the market.

Choosing a Tank

The fire splinter has some powerful tanks to choose from and they are focused on melee attack. Grum Flameblade has a very powerful attack with good health and shield. His only weakness is that he is not very fast.

There is also the powerful Forgotten one who is also immune to poison which can come in very handy. He has a strong attack and shield and is a little faster than Grum. For those low mana matches, there is the very handy Android Platoon. When you get to level 6, he gets the awesome scavenger ability. This allows his health to grow each time any monster dies.

Melee Attack

To round off the fire splinter there are some good melee attack monsters and some very low mana cost ones. Tenyii Striker teamed up with Uraeus the neutral monster can prove very dangerous.

We then have Serpentine Spy who has the deadly opportunity ability and a very low cost 3 mana.

Some cards from the older series that you can bolster your deck are the powerful Fineas Rage who can be great with his reach ability and support for your tank. His fast speed can quickly remove the shield of the enemy tank and allow your tank to do some serious damage.

We also have Kobold Miner who is a low mana monster with the sneak ability. This can really compliment those low mana battles.

Finally we have the awesome Cerberus, with his low mana cost and heal ability, he can compliment many line ups.

Summary:

The fire splinter has a very powerful melee attack and this can be used either through the tank or sneak attack. The weakness of the fire splinter is that some of the monsters have a low health score and may need protection or extra speed to be fully effective.

To keep in mind is that the only taunt available for the fire splinter is the powerful legendary Magnor or the new riftwatchers neutral Coeurl Lurker. Overall, the fire deck is a powerful deck that can take down many opponents, but how does it fare against the water splinter?

We will find out next week.
