Hello everyone and welcome to my blog at this hour.
Do you like it spicy?
Do you like it peppery?
Or you like it savory?
Or maybe it's hot?
Then, Kilishi is the answer 😜
Kilishi is a snack for all occasion. It can be eaten alongside garri (cassava flakes) or with some bottle of either alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks.
No matter how good you are at eating peppery foods, you cannot finish a slice of kilishi without downing a bottle of water to reduce the peppery feel in your tongue. Interestingly, the sellers are good at satisfying their customers at the point of purchase by offering slices of kilishi, this is often called "tasting".
Also available at this major kilishi market is shredded chicken that has been seasoned and spiced. It is also peppery but not as much as kilishi. It can be added to noodles, sauce of any kind, stew and even soups.
Kilishi is indeed a blessing from the Northern part of Nigeria. It is made from deboned cow or goat meat that is sliced into smaller sizes and sun dried after it has been seasoned with ginger, salt, pepper and other ingredients.
