The Nigerian fish pie is not as popular as the beef or chicken pie in other countries, especially the Europe but if you like fish, this homemade snacks is for you, and if you don't like fish, give it a try; you'll be pleasantly pleased at how wonderful and mellow it tastes. It's packed with fish and veggies, making it a substantial and healthful on-the-go lunch.

Ingredients

  • Boiled Fish

  • Flour

  • Sweet Potato

  • Onions

  • Vegetable Oil

  • Chopped Carrots

  • Chopped Onions

  • Chilli Pepper

  • Eggs

  • Seasoning & Salt

Step 1

Place a frying pan on a medium heat and preheat the vegetable oil, combine the onions and cook until they are softened, add the fish, carrots, potatoes, chili pepper, and seasoning in a large mixing bowl. Fry and stir.

Step 2

Mix a flour with 3 teaspoons of water. In a small bowl, crack the egg and whisk in 1 teaspoon water or a pinch of salt before adding to the flour mixture.

Step 3

Cut the dough into rectangles depending on the size of your pies. Spread pie filling on half of the rectangle, leaving some gap along the sides.

Step 4

Crimp the edges with a fork, heat vegetable oil in a clean fry pan, and deep fry the pies, make sure you keep an eye on it to avoid burning.
