This post made me a little sad. My grandfather was a master wood-smith (among many other talents he had) and I don't want a machine to replace artists like he was. I still believe there is an energy behind a hand made piece that no machine will ever be able to replicate.
I have a hanging coat rack my grandfather made for me decades ago, and while there are many that may look better in stores, none will equal the value the piece has for me.
Thanks for sharing. I don't think many grasp how much automation is taking place now. My brother sometimes works building construction sites running cable lines, and he said on many jobs the walls are being delivered whole with the wires (electrical, internet etc) already inside the walls.
That was also my feeling...
