Después de probar varias distribuciones de GNU/Linux para mi Notebook (que tiene pocos recursos) la que más me gusto fue Lubuntu, dado que la instalación, arranque y funcionamiento es más rápido comparado con otras distribuciones.
El lema de Lubuntu es: "menos recursos y más eficiencia energética" y utiliza el gestor de escritorio LXDE con lo cual la batería de mi equipo dura más tiempo.
Después de mover algunas cosas para que el escritorio quedara a mi gusto me di cuenta de lo fácil que resulta personalizarlo (como en muchas otras distros), por ejemplo dando click derecho en los elementos como el icono del menú o la barra de herramientas puedes elegir que imagen o icono quieres que despliegue.
Y como un gesto de sarcasmo me decidí a personalizarlo de un modo similar al legendario Windows XP, y digo legendario porque tal vez fue el único sistema operativo que para mi gusto valía la pena.
Podemos resumir las caracteristicas de Lubuntu en estos tres puntos:

y libres de virus desde el seguro Centro de Software.
Compatible.
Puedes utilizar toda tu música, PDF, documentos y archivos y compártelos con otros ordenadores
y sistemas operativos.
Rápido y ligero.
Diseñado para ser rápido, amigable y ahorrar energía, de software de código abierto con una gran comunidad de apoyo detrás.
Así que para mi objetivo utilice Gimp, que también es sofware libre:
After trying several GNU/Linux distributions for my Notebook (which has few resources) the one I liked the most was Lubuntu, since the installation, boot and operation is faster compared to other distributions.
Lubuntu's motto is: "less resources and more energy efficiency" and it uses the LXDE desktop manager so my computer's battery lasts longer.
After moving some things around to get the desktop to my liking I realized how easy it is to customize it (as in many other distros), for example by right clicking on items like the menu icon or the toolbar you can choose which image or icon you want to display.
