The Van Kush Family Guide to Hemp Derived Cannabinoids

The term "Hemp Derived" in the Wording relating to Regulations, means really primarily that the Product is Taxed, it is a term denoting that the Product is Derived from Plants Grown in accordance with the Farm Bill, paying Taxes along the way, even Tariffs, and we can begin our understanding with Hemp Clothing, and things we have seen for years, getting into what could probably be most simply summed up in kind of the Hemp Lip Balm Production Economy, whereby Hemp Oils are used to make large batches of things like Lip Balm or Deodorant, etc. The containers are sold online, and people put a Marijuana leaf on it and Sell it. Now there is a new Movement in Hemp since the 2018 Farm Bill, and there has been a large scale adoption of CBD, and this can be seen on State and Federal Levels, and there has been a call from States for people to become Hemp Farmers and join the new Economy.

As Medical Marijuana became an Industry, there were generally Plant Counts, 6 per Person, etc. This has sometimes allowed for 99+ for people who make Extracts, but even the Dispensaries had to have Patients to grow for. And there were many Advancements, even just in Glass Blowing we can see not only large scale adoption as a Craft, but actual new Devices, and this can be seen as something that is an Evolution of Medical Glass Blowing, of which there are only a few schools in the US. With Hemp, there are now Acres and Acres being grown, for the CBD content primarily, so we can see many of these Taxes being paid have been to obtain Hemp Flower and CBD. This then is where we can start to understand "Hemp Derived", and we can compare this to Full Synthetics (the main area of focus being Cannamimeticks, particularly used in illegal forms of K2 after the brand was taken off of shelves), which simply means a Synthesis was preformed, and there is one here, but the Plant did most of the Work first, and it was the Hemp Plant, CBD and other CBx Molecules could actually be used to Feed other Plants and see what comes out, then there is no "Synthetic" nature to it, but you could obtain the same result.

What has happened within the past few years is advancement in understanding of CBx Molecules (Not CBX, but CB-x, or CBx, with the x being a Variable letter to be changed to denote different structures related to Cannabidiol), as the Medical then Recreational Marijuana Industries first grew, we saw Hash become Concentrates (which could technically still be called Hash or Hash Oil), and things like Chromotography and Genetic Testing become full of reference points, so like Human Genetic Testing as the Catalogue of Available Genetics is expanded, each new Genetic Test becomes more accurate. We also saw a genuine push to understand the Medicinal Properties of Marijuana, and the Human Endocannabinoid System. With the 2018 Farm Bill we can see that the Chromotography has become central as it already was even just for labeling at the Dispensary, Chromotography brings Marketing of the Results, which also then gets into Festivals, and Awards, etc. And in the Chromotography there has been the Discovery of several CBx Molecules, CBD, CBN, CBL, CBDA, CBC, CBG, CBDv, etc, then Terpenes like BCP. This should now pave the way for a broad number of applications, if we look at how Delta-9-THC has been being Synthesized for Decades, it is generally made from Olivetol, available from the Olive Tree, the Synthesis is Simple, and fairly inexpensive, with a number of Byproducts being made based on different Monoterpenes used, etc.

This is Olivetol.

This is Delta-8-THC compared to Delta-9-THC, you can see there is a change in Position from 9, to 8, and there are missing Hydrogen Structures (the Solid Lines can be considered Carbon based, and this Science then gets to Hydrocarbons and Nitrogen Structures).

To begin to understand this, the best place to start is with your Stomach Acids, and CBD v. Delta-9-THC, in your Stomach there is Hydrochloric Acid, with contains a Chlorine, which is highly reactive with other Molecules, surrounded by Hydrogens and Oxygens, which are highly reactive also, particularly with Hydrogens and Oxygens, forming Water, H2O. So when we look at the Acronyms CBD and THC we can unravel this Chemistry for everyone to understand, CBD is Cannabidiol, THC is TetrahydraCannabidiol, Tetra Hydra CBD, this means that basically THC is just CBD with Hydrogens added, there has also recently been HHC seen on shelves with Delta-8-THC and THC-O-Acetate. HHC is THC with even more Hydrogen, probably common as a Byproduct in Synthesis of Cannabinoids.

From there everyone should be able to understand the next part, that is that Delta-9-THC can become HHC, and CBD can become THC, so then CBN, CBL, CBDv, etc, etc, the CBx Molecules all then have the Potential to become other Cannabinoids, maybe some that don't exist yet. Then there also is the factor of Monoterpenes added during Synthesis, and then the Ability to create what has been called a "Designer Drug" by replacing Atoms; H, Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Fr, should all be able to replace each other in HHC type creations. New Molecules. Oxygens are replaced with Sulfurs to make Thiols, Sasha Shulgin and David E. Nichols get into this in shared papers. This then should lead to not only an expansion of the second layer of Molecules, with the Hydrogen added, but completely new base Structures related to CBD, made from CBD, Derived from Hemp, and then an even more massive Class on the second layer. The effects of Cannabinoids have now also been found to be so diverse, it is unlikely that this will simply be a field of Drugs that all work like Delta-9-THC with different Potencies, and Strength, but instead will be an entire lesson in Structure Activity Relationship for anyone who even ventures in to learn about the new Structures. If you look at Sasha Shulgin's Magical Half Dozen and the 10 Classic Ladies, you can start to understand the kind of Maps that can be made for others to follow, as well as the kind of Mescaline Rosetta Stone he created. These can be used along with the Shulgin Scale, with a rating from 0 to +5 to define some of the effects.

This Science has been covered under the 2018 Farm Bill and Hemp Derivatives have been considered to be under 0.3% Delta-9-THC, and therefore Hemp. This should not be seen as an Underground, or Criminal Enterprise, but the Government should support this and guide those who are only growing Hemp because the Government Legalized it as a Cash Crop as an Alternative to Marijuana Legalization, in next steps, supporting Conventions and Industry Standards.
