Russia has announced a ceasefire in four cities, almost two weeks after the attack on Ukraine. At the same time, it has been announced to launch humanitarian corridors in these cities. The four cities are Kiev, Kharkiv, Mariupol and Sumi.

Russia's Interfax news agency reported that the announcement was made by the country's Defense Ministry. The announcement will take effect at 10 a.m. Moscow time on Monday.

The ministry further said that humanitarian corridors are being opened in Kiev, Kharkiv, Mariupol and Sumi, at the personal request of French President Emmanuel Macron and considering the current situation.

At the behest of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian troops launched an air, ground and water attack on Ukraine in the early hours of Thursday (February 24th) local time. Attacks began from the north, south and east, and even from Belarus. Gradually, Russian troops advanced on the capital, Kiev. Intense fighting began with the Ukrainian army.
