Good evening everyone, tonight I will again post about the customs and culture in my area or about the beauty of the Sekar Jagat dance.
The Sekar Jagat dance is a welcoming dance or a medium of respect when guests stop by in Bali. As the name implies "Sekar", the dance is performed by 4-7 women using flower media. The flower is intended to describe a peaceful universe as well as describe an atmosphere that is fragrant with the fragrance of flowers. Interestingly, the Sekar Jagat Dance is not only a welcoming dance for the guests of honor but can be used as a medium of entertainment.
The island of Bali always hypnotizes both domestic and foreign tourists. The island nicknamed "Thousands of Temple" or "The Paradise of Island" has bewitched anyone to come visit. Not only interesting tourist attractions but Bali's incredibly diverse culture is a great tourist attraction.
One of the cultures that is very attached and maintained until now is dance. Various kinds of dances, you can find and enjoy in various tourist attractions throughout Bali. From Kecak dance to Janger dance. However, there is one type of dance that you can enjoy when you visit Bali. If you are a guest at an event, you will be treated to a typical dance performed by women carrying flowers in their hands. The dance is better known as the Sekar Jagat Dance.
The Sekar Jagat dance itself was created by N.L.N. Swasthi Wijaya Bandem (who is also the fashion designer) in 1993 for the opening of the Bali Wastra Exhibition in Jakarta. Meanwhile, the accompaniment stylist is I Nyoman Windha.*) Now, the Sekar Jagat Dance is known as the Dance of Welcoming the Guest of Honor in an event.
There is a philosophy contained in the Sekar Jagat Dance, namely: Balinese people really respect guests. Not only that, the Balinese also "welcome" to guests to enjoy the beauty of the island of Bali. This dance also gives hope that guests can feel at home in Bali and when they return to their area they always "miss" and want to return to Bali again.
Two years ago, I was invited as a Blogger in an event to welcome Spanish magician Jorge Blass who will entertain children whose parents have left behind at SOS Children Village Selemadeg, Tabanan Regency, Bali. I and other Blogger friends were given the opportunity to understand the condition of the children who are being cared for by a foster mother in the same family house.
In the evening, a very lively welcome ceremony was held at a meeting hall belonging to the SOS Children Village. The interesting event began with the action of the SOS Children Village children who performed the Sekar Jagat Dance. The dance movements were very flexible and graceful, welcoming me and other guests in a friendly, open and entertaining manner.
For me, the Sekar Jagat dance performed by children who live under the care of a foster mother really pays great respect to me and the other guests. The Sekar Jagat dance conveys an important meaning that the SOS Children Village children really welcome the guests with pleasure and open arms. They seem to want to show the meaning of their life as it is to the guests. And, it was a night of joy and happy smiles from all the guests and children present.
Indeed, the Sekar Jagat Dance has given awards to anyone who visits Bali. Dances that give good respect to guests are like the saying "glorify the guests, your life will surely be noble". When guests are treated well, the prayers that come out of guests will be good too. This is the "magical value" of the Sekar Jagat Dance.
The Sekar Jagat dance hopes to bring happiness and peace to everyone in the world. Including me when I stopped by to see the lives of the SOS Children Village children who live without their biological mothers. Sekar Jagat dance gives meaning so that children's lives remain happy and peaceful in achieving the desired goals.
Welcome to Bali, friends. And, you will be warmly welcomed in a beautiful dance. That is, the Sekar Jagat Dance.
