It's the weekend already and it feels good to share with you guys one of my favourites food I have always eaten, it's also categorized as a healthy meal because it contains one of the six classes of food which is protein. Yes, I love treating myself to delicious and healthy food which I love to make in my home, instead of buying them outside which doesn't guarantee a good and healthy food to the body.
One reason I love the meal is that I have never tried it before because I only know of Yam and Beans. Not until a friend told me to try it which I did for the first time in January and since then, I have been eating it more in the month of January.
See how sumptuous the meal is to the eyes. This is Beans and Potato Porridge and I believe many of us are familiar with Beans and Potato? Don't worry, the process isn't difficult and within half an hour, you are done preparing this amazing food for your stomach.
I have eaten this food last in January and since then, I have been trying to make another one and seeing someone posted it a few days ago,made me crave for it again and determined to eat it which I did on Tuesday.
So, let's get down to how I prepared it and here are the ingredients in preparing BEANS AND POTATO PORRIDGE.
In the picture above, we have;
- Raw Beans (1 and a half cups for myself)
- Raw Potatoes (4 with a small one)
- Scotch Bonnet (Ata Rodo in the Yoruba language)
- Onions (2)
- Crayfish
- Curry and Thyme
- Other seasonings (Maggi and Salt)
- Palm oil which is also called Red Oil
HOW I PREPARED THE FOOD USING MY OWN METHOD
There are different ways people prepare it but it comes down to the same meal. Many would love adding more spices to make it more sweeter but for me, this was how I made mine and it was all good and I enjoyed the taste.
- The first thing I did was to pick the dirt in the beans and used hot water to wash or rinse it.
- Then, I place it on the gas and sliced one onion as I left it to keep boiling.
- While the beans was boiling, I peeled my Potatoes and sliced it into smaller sizes.

- After finishing that, I grated my pepper and the remaining onions, and also added tomato paste too.
- So what next? I picked the dirt in the crayfish and rinsed thrice to be sure of being cleaned.
- At that moment, my beans had boiled and softened to my desired way. So, I added the sliced potatoes, grated pepper, crayfish, curry and Thyme, with seasonings. Then, I covered it to steam for a few minutes until my Potatoes get softened too.
After waiting for some minutes, everything was okay from the beans to the potatoes and pepper. I added a little quantity of Red oil and left again for another two minutes. My Beans and Potato Porridge are ready to be eaten.
I hope the process isn't hard if you need to try it too. Trust me, you will enjoy it more when you add Chicken or Turkey 🤤🤤
