Lionel Messi's career in Major League Soccer (MLS) is just around the corner. But Messi has been nominated for a prestigious award.
Messi joined Inter Miami in July after his contract expired at Paris Saint-Germain. So far La Pulga has played 12 times in all competitions, with four of them in MLS.

Before now missing several matches due to injury, Lionel Messi appeared impressive with a total of 11 goals and 5 assists in all his appearances. Especially in MLS, when he started three times, Messi made 1 goal and 2 assists.

Lionel Messi's progress in MLS, although the number of appearances can still be counted on one hand, has led to the 36 year old footballer being nominated for the 2023 MLS MVP Award, as reported by talkSPORT.

It was further stated that Messi's name was among 30 players nominated for the award who had the official name Landon Donovan MLS MVP.

The voting process for this award began on October 10 and ended on October 23. Players, coaches and directors at MLS clubs, plus selected media, will take part in the voting process.

Lionel Messi is one of two Inter Miami players nominated. There is also Sergio Busquets, with both players also nominated for the MLS Newcomer of the Year Award, the award for the best newcomer.
