One of the most popular phrase that I grew up to in my country is the saying that "youths are leaders of tomorrow".
There is no doubt about the statement because the youths we see today will definitely grow to be in charge of a lot of productive sectors in the society.
The youths are always known to be very zealous, energetic and passionate about anything that they channel their mind towards achieving. They are filled with alot of ideas that runs through their mind and they have big dreams which they want to achieve.
Some of these dreams looks unattainable but it will be easier for them to achieve them if they stay in an environment where people are ready to listen to their voice and give them the desired support as early as possible.
Here is the issue;
I've seen situations where youths are looked down upon and treated like people with half-baked mind whenever important decisions are being made in the community. Their opinion are disregarded because of their age yet, they are expected to make a difference in the future.
In my community, youths are hardly listened to and any idea they generate are often downplayed without a second thought.
Most of them have already lost the inspiration to speak about what they want their future to be. They are never given an opportunity to discuss about their dreams and l see it's effect on many young lads that are just strolling around the street without any sort of inspiration to work towards achieving anything.
Those in school just pass through the institution and come back empty because there is nothing attached to the syllabus that is expected to serve as inspiration for them. They are just waiting to be declared as adults so that they can dabble around any opportunity that crosses path with them.
This style have proved to be a shambolic method to be adopted by any community because l have witnessed it first-hand and l can tell you that it only kills the dreams, passion and creativity of youths.
The way forward;
I believe that It's only by evaluating and supporting the voice of youths that the community would be able to boost the self-confidence that exists in them while preparing them so that they will start making a difference immediately.
Any community that knows about this and cares about the type of impact that they expect the youths to make on the long-run are also expected to support the voice of these youths and inspire them to work towards developing a strong self-esteem which will be helpful while they try to achieve their goals.
Do you know of any way that communities would be able to evaluate and support the voice of youths?
Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop Or Comma
Leaders of tomorrow by word of mouth only.
The future of the youths are being looted giving rise to more youths becoming adults with the ambition to have their own share of the pie by looting as well.
A generation that doesn't carry the next generation along are destroying the future generations with style.
Hand over positions to the youths, evaluate how they handle those responsibilities and guide them when necessary. That way, the older ones can die in peace knowing their successors are well to do.
Not the kind of case where the old ones don't want to retire and the youths are kicking footwear along the road.
Hahah... I don't think there is early retirement plan for anyone getting into Nigerian Politics.
For the most part, they know that they are not capable, yet they choose to use youths behind the scene to achieve their personal goals instead of empowering these youths and bringing them to the forefront of politics.
