What's Wrong With Vietnam, Why Are So Many Flights Stopped?

Vietnam has just entered a new chapter as Southeast Asia's preferred destination. However, at the end of this year there was bad news, many flights were even stopped.

Reporting from Vietnam Express on Wednesday (12/12/2023), many flights to Phu Quoc Island were suspended due to low demand. In fact, the island is predicted to become Vietnam's new mainstay tourist destination.

Initially, the hope of Phu Quoc Island becoming Vietnam's new tourist spot was quite promising. It didn't take long for the island to be flooded with local and international tourists and vacationers.

However, it turns out that Phu Quoc failed to maintain that attraction. In recent months, Phu Quoc has been hit by rising prices for plane tickets, hotels and other accommodation. Cases of tourist fraud are also rampant as tourism soars.

Tourists are starting to feel reluctant to vacation on the island. Towards the end of this year, demand for flights to Phu Quoc began to decline, even dropping sharply.

The number of tourists has halved in the last three months. Finally, domestic flights from Da Nang, Can Thi and Nha Trang chose to be suspended due to the small number of passengers carried.

Not only domestic flights, a number of international flights were also stopped. However, flights from South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic continued. From this flight there are around 1,700 passengers every day.

Even so, the hotel industry crisis continues. As Christmas and New Year approach, hotel room occupancy is half booked.

Phu Quoc tourism authorities vowed to improve service quality and prevent price increases to revive its tourism reputation.
