My Dream Vacation

Most times, as human, all we remember to do is work, work and work. We forget that our body needs rest and our mind has to recharge, we forget to love ourselves and take that much needed break.

A lot of people don’t see the need to take vacations but I do and if I were to be asked on what my vacation destination would be, I have quite a couple of venues in mind. Nevertheless, I shall be focusing on the one that tops the list right now.

My vacation destination would certainly be Obudu cattle ranch that sits in cross river state, Nigeria. Well, for one, I’m a lover of nature and this would give me enough of that green, bended with a calm serenity that I know for a fact I would surely appreciate.

Obudu Cattle Ranch is located in Cross River State, Nigeria and it shares a border with Cameroon giving it a rejuvenating atmosphere. The resort was developed in 1951 by a Scottish Rancher McCauleigh. It is surrounded by deep tropical forests giving it that atmosphere of adventure and tranquility. It is a very popular tourist attraction in Nigeria and the whole of Africa.

To make this a dream come true, I’ll be in the company of my friends—don’t be shocked if I tell you I only have two of that. And one is my boyfriend. Except you’d have me add my sister and my friend’s sister but we’re not here to talk about my social life. You’re here to experience my dream vacation from the mere effect of my words.

In Obudu Cattle Ranch you will witness modernization and nature working together in perfect harmony. I heard it’s cold over there, a reason for me to flaunt all the sweat shirts I have stacked up in my closet. I’ll love to take a ride in the cable cars because I’m lazy and love to take rides on anything available.

Cable rides gives you a great view of the ranch from an eagles eyesight, the ride takes about six minutes unlike driving on the famous wind mill road which takes about 25minutes

I can already imagine our screams as we’ll be taken high up, the hills and mountains becoming a distant reality. I don’t hate heights neither do I love them, I just believe it’s one of those beauties that need to be explored.

There is also a canopy walkway swinging bridge that is suspended above the forest 100m. I call it the brave walk because I am afraid of heights.

My stomach has to be taken care of because that’s really the key to my heart. There is an in House restaurant that provides the tastiest of local and intercontinental dishes. I’ll explore their kitchens and try out all the meals, filling my stomach up to the point where it shall plead with me to stop.

After a long day of touring and meeting the locals there, I’ll retire to my mountain villa to call it a night and the next morning, before I go, I’ll spend it by the balcony, staring into the land around and beneath me as I savor my last moments on a place I consider paradise. A place that has made my heart smile and my soul, glow.

To be honest, my vacation destination is anywhere that I can find peace, love, fun and lots of food. It doesn’t really matter where it’s at, all I need is the right company and I’ll make memories to last a life time.
