Sharing this savoury Braised Pork Belly. This recipe is almost the same as Braised Sweet Pork Belly in my blog. The only difference is this dish is savoury instead of sweet. 😀. Enjoy.
RECIPE
A. Preboil the pork belly for easy slicing. Don’t have to cook thoroughly. Boil for 5 minutes will do.
B. Heat 2 tbsp of oil. Add in 4 crushed garlic cloves + 1 star anise + 3 slices of ginger + cinnamon stick. Once it is fragrant and slightly brown, add in the pork belly and put on medium heat. Add 1 tbsp of salt (less if you prefer) + 1 tbsp of dark sauce + 1 tbsp of soya sauce + 2 cup of water + a pinch of salt + 1 dried chilli.
C. Put on low heat and let it simmer till meat absorbs all the sauce. Check randomly if the meat is tender, if not, add in some water. Once you see meat is soft, well-coated in sauce and add mixture (3tbsp water+1tsp cornflour) to thicken sauce. If you like more sauce, add some water.
