I modified the recipe for slow cooker: 8 hours in low slow cooker with 1 cup of dark stout beer instead of cooking it in the oven for 6 hours. I did finish it in the oven with the sugar, salt and two spoons of apple cider vinegar mixture coating for the skin. Without the vinegar, the sugar and salt mixture will not stick to the skin. I served it with rice vermicelli noodles. It was delicious and everyone loved it.
