There have been many technological advancements that have enhanced people's lives, but none compare to refrigeration (cooling systems).
Refrigeration is so widespread now days that we tend to forget about it and the significant improvements it has brought us. People regularly cut ice from winter lakes and stored it in "ice huts" to be carried out and transported to households where perishables were preserved in ice boxes a little over a century ago.
Today, we transport and store perishable foods and other items all across the world, and we use "air conditioning" to keep our buildings cool. It's all about the refrigerator, people.
Because of the cooling system installed in our automobiles, which is also a part of refrigerating, we can sit in our cars and wait in traffic for several hours without breaking a sweat.
Refrigerators today play a role in our daily lives in a variety of ways, from preserving perishable items to providing comfort in our homes, offices, and automobiles.
Early generations of computers required a cooling system to minimize the generated heat, and as the computer evolved, so did its cooling system.
Our computers now have advanced cooling systems that limit the amount of heat created during use and alleviate our anxiety of our computers blowing up in our faces.
Now, even in the worst of climates, we can sit in our homes, sipping cold drinks and chilling in our fully air-conditioned residences, as if we were in Antarctica or Alaska.
And if it somehow "disappeared," much of the world's civilization would crumble.
