Did you ever read The Lorax by Dr. Seuss? This image I took looking down through the boards of an old bridge at the grassy creek below always does it to me.

The Once-ler is the main antagonist of the children's story that cuts down all the Truffula trees in the area to produce a piece of clothing that everybody wants. The whole region becomes a wasteland due to the practice. Little did I know at the time it was a not so subtle attempt at discussing deforestation and the environmental movement.

The brain is a funny thing. I haven't thought about this book in a long time.
