Jakarta - Sebastian Vettel announced his plans to retire from Formula 1. Vettel will retire at the end of the 2022 season.
Sebastian Vettel announced his decision to retire from F1 via his personal Instagram account. The announcement was also Vettel's first upload on his social media account which only appeared on Thursday (28/7/2022) afternoon WIB.
Vettel started his career in F1 with BMW Sauber in 2007. The German driver then won four F1 world titles with Red Bull in 2010-2013.

Sebastian Vettel failed to add to his world title while strengthening Ferrari in 2015-2020. Meanwhile, since defending Aston Martin in 2021, Vettel has only been on the podium once.
"The decision to retire was difficult for me to take and I spent a lot of time thinking about it," said Vettel as reported by Autosport.

"At the end of the year I wanted to take some time to reflect on what my focus would be. It was very clear to me that, being a father, I wanted to spend more time with my family."
"But today is not about saying goodbye. It's about thanking, to everyone, also to the fans, without their support Formula 1 would not exist," said Vettel.
Sebastian Vettel occupies the third position in the list of drivers with the most wins (53) in F1. He is behind Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher.
