Perodua is preparing to launch the latest generation of the Daihatsu Ayla twin. The automotive company from Malaysia, which sells Daihatsu cars, has released a teaser from Ayla, which is sold there under the name Perodua Axia.
Now, the latest generation of Perodua Axia has leaked. Including the leaked specifications of this latest generation Ayla.
As quoted by local Malaysian media, Paultan, the latest generation of Perodua Axia will be equipped with an EEV engine with D-CVT transmission. However, it was not stated whether the engine in question was a turbo or N/A engine.
Predictably, Perodua will carry the 1KR-VE 1.0L three-cylinder VVT-i engine. However, the transmission options are only available D-CVT, no manual transmission.
The use of the CVT transmission also includes major changes to the Daihatsu Ayla twin. Daihatsu has indeed installed CVT transmissions in several of its newest cars, such as the Daihatsu Rocky and Daihatsu Xenia.
D-CVT stands for Dual-Mode CVT, the world's first separate gear CVT system. Basically, this unit combines belt drive with gear drive to improve fuel efficiency, acceleration and silence.
With this new gearbox, the latest generation Daihatsu Ayla's fuel consumption will be more economical. In the leaked specifications, Perodua Axia will have a fuel consumption of 25.3 km/liter and even up to 27.4 km/liter with the Eco Idle system which turns off the engine automatically when the car stops.
This figure is based on the Malaysian Driving Cycle (MDC), which may follow local road conditions. However, record fuel consumption figures can vary, depending on driving style and road conditions being traversed.
Daihatsu Ayla or Perodua Axia in Malaysia will carry the 1,000 cc NA engine in its four variants. The top two variants get the Eco Idle feature and Power mode.
