So last week, I took part in a contest where the theme for the art was "Light house". For those who may not be used to the term, a Light house is a building or structure built by the sea side for several reasons but mostly, to guild ships and act as a navigation beacon to anyone traveling by water. It is a symbol of hope, guidance and security and so I used a concept I've always wanted to try out and it felt perfect for this piece.
The piece depicts two children of different races building a lighthouse with sand from a beach. The piece is meant to speak on issues of racism in the world and we can all come together regardless of our race to build something so beautiful, a lighthouse which symbolises hope, safety, security and guidance.
I added some details like the buckets, shovel, flower on hair and birds to make the drawing more interesting. I created this piece using the scribble technique mostly and I hope you love it.
PS: I was so carried away that I forgot to take shots of my early stages.
