Great contest, moving back in time on the Blurt Time Machine, I would consider a Nigerian writer and activist named Chinua Achebe (1930—2013).
Chinua Achebe has several times being given credit as the father of African literature and author of five novels, four children's books, six collections of essays, and several volumes of poetry and short stories.
In one of his essays, he stressed the duty of a writer and I quote:
he said a writer is to teach and educate the society. source
Chinua Achebe would have been a very great asset to the Blurt community. He might have been a Nigerian but was one of the greatest writers.
Chinua Achebe would be a great addition to the Blurt community I must confess.
