The Ankara style (sometimes spelled Ankcara) is a clothing style from Africa. This style can be traced back to the early colonial period and refers to a wax-printed cotton textile with bright persistent patterns of largely symbolic content. In most cases, such textiles are sold as yard ware and then applied to one or more (more or less related) garments.
Women and men wear it as a shirt, top, skirt, dress, pants, scarfs, and as part of shoes, among other things (however in different cut styles).
Ankara has shown to be adaptable, and it is today widely recognized and used over the world. It has suddenly become a must-have in many people's wardrobes, regardless of their ethnicity or culture.
