In my 100level in the University
Tertiary institution is a place where you meet different people from different ethnic and cultural differences in the world. It is a ground where you learn a lot. It exposes us to different experiences both the good and the bad ones.
After my Secondary School, it took me 2years before I could secure an admission and because of this, I was so eager to go back to school. I thought the University was a bed of roses.
My first experience
My first experience that changed my mindset was getting an accomodation. In my 100level, I wanted to stay in the school hostel because it was affordable, closer to my department, maximum security and there was constant light and water supply. Getting a bed space in my school was survival of the fittest. I squatted with a friend through out 1st semester. I finally bought a bed space in second semester from a friend who went for her Industrial Training. This particular experience made me to understand that the higher Institution was a jungle, and for me to survive, I have to up my game.
The second experience
Another major experience I had that got me thinking was in the hands of extramural tutors. Then in our lecture hall, anytime a lecturer in not in class, different extramural tutors comes to convince us to register in their lesson centers. They went ahead to tell us that if we don't do so, we would fail. I was so afraid and this made me to attend an all night tutorial on mathematics then. The funny thing about the class was that the teacher ended up confusing us instead of teaching. After wasting my night sleep that day, the following day, I had a serious migraine and I promised myself never to try such again.
