Hello dear all,

I’m here today to share with you guys my Friday activities.

So, today was a big day for me and my friends since it was Election Day and we had to go round to convince people to vote for us as their new local NUGS president.

I woke up very early today at the time of 5:30 am, first thing I did was started my day with my daily activities which took me about 30 minutes to complete. Elections start at 7:00 am so what I did next was my breakfast and then head out to my friend's day.

At my friend's place, I sat and waited for him to take his bath which took him 30 minutes to finish, and after he was done, he took his breakfast and we headed out.

At the time of 7:30 am was too early for others since they were still asleep. All we did was knock on their door and when they came out we told them that we were here to remind them of the ongoing election and that they should vote for my friend who was number 2 on the ballot screen.

We spent about 5 hours visiting the hostel and one of the challenges we faced was that there weren’t many people to talk to because most of them had gone home due to the strike.

Our lectures have been on strike for like about 2 months now which made a lot of people go home. But those that we could find we spoke with them and reminded them.

After we covered most of the hostel territories, we decided to sit go and get something to eat for lunch.

In the process of eating, I brought out an idea that since we are not able to get all the students on campus, then we should call those at home to all remind them, and in doing so we also told them to call a friend to tell another friend that there is an ongoing election and all he needed was to go online and vote since the voting process was strictly online.

At the hostel, we started by making a few calls which helped with the election because we got a lot of people at home to vote.

We spent 3 hours at the hostel making calls informing those at home.

At exactly 5:00 pm, elections closed and we had to go to the campus for the electoral commission to announce the provisional results to us.

At the local NUGS column, we were told that we were leading the race with a vote of 761 whiles our competitors had 755 so we led him with a total of 6 votes and had to go on a runoff since the winning margin was too small for the EC to declare a winner.

There were some arguments on campus and people accused one of the candidates of hacked.
They said he hacked the system and changed to election to his favor fr the part of the SRC presidency.

We came back to the hostel to plan for our next move since the battle wasn’t over.

I was so exhausted so I decided to go home and get something to eat and after doing that, I called it a day.
