I have witnessed a lot of this in my community. Parents, grandparents, siblings, relatives, will be starving in the rural area, while their son, daughter, brother or relative is in the city living an extravagant life. And will never lift a finger to support people at home. But when they die, they will buy expensive coffin, and throw the best burial ceremony in town.
Its not care or respect for the dead, it's nothing more than ignorance and show off.

Spot on! You're right about everything you said and it is saddening that this same thing is repeating itself in this era.
It's rapidly becoming a norm in my society.
