We find ourselves in a part of the world where lies are the order of the day by our politicians. They sell their lies to us in pursuit of power and, in the end, we get betrayed. Hmm, what a deceit. Education, which they say is the key to success, is no more what it used to be. Poor young people are left jobless, there are no health facilities in our communities, bad roads, no good drinking water, and yet our leaders are in parliament fighting to pass a bill worth $100,000 for each constituency parliamentarian to buy a car. What a deceit.
Indeed, they are really there to serve their own selfish interests, but not the people they represent. On the other hand, the number one gentle man in the country is also fighting for his wife and the vice to be paid Ghs 21,000 every month and the payment should be backdated to 2017, whilst the people who deserve to be paid are not paid as they are supposed to, and the funny part of it is, "teachers' reward is in heaven" and that they can not be rich in their profession. Where did we go wrong as a country? Businessmen are being taxed abnormally and they also intend to channel their anger at the consumer. Day in and day out, it is all about looting and milking the state.
Where did we go wrong? We are now at a stage where going out and coming home alive is a blessing.
The brutalities of our security agencies are just unbearable. Graduates with good qualifications are denied jobs simply because our greedy leaders, who are supposed to be on retirement, are holding three or four jobs at a go.
What is the key to success now? The choice is yours. I have chosen mine to blend it with the education I have. I fear the day the angry youth will arise and fight for what is theirs.
I chose farming to blend it with education in this current situation, where graduates are left to fend for themselves. If we didn’t learn something from this, we would never have made it as a youth.
I got inspired by my very own cousin who finished university with a first class without a job simply because he did not know anyone on top there. He kept the certificate and went into serious rice farming, and he doesn’t depend on the government for survival.
I have equally lased my shoes to pick up the challenge as well by emulating the rice farming in the suburbs of Navrongo Central and studying as well.
I would like to admonish my fellow colleagues and steemians, that not all can succeed through education. Explore your talents and blend them with education. Surely surely one will pay off and do not put all your balls in one basket. What do you choose to blend with your education?
