Beautiful nature with wildlife and birds of Uganda

It has been a rainy day since morning here, so the moment it would stop, I would swiftly get out to the near by swamp to check on my birds for photography. I was very happy with the few beautiful ones I saw including the Hamerkop and the Hadad Ibis.
These beautiful birds have good stories to tell and are so friendly with humans and water places.

The Hamerkop (Scopus umbretta)
This sis one of the great birds with unique features like curved beak, the crest rises up in surprise forming a hammer like structure and this contributed to the naming.

The bird is mostly found close to the wetlands, lakes and rivers feeding on insects, amphibians, small fish and little vegetation. It usually nests around here with a very big nest compared to its actaula size, the nest is built with small tree branches with only one entrance serving as exit at the same time. Being one of the faithful birds, sometimes they mate for life.

The Hadad Ibis (Bostrychia hagedash)

This is amongst the wading birds and is a native to the Sub Saharan Africa. It is named after the tree to four note calls it sings while flying to the feeding places in the mornings and to the roosting places in the evening.
These beautiful birds couple for life and once one dies, the other one lives a single life till for the rest of the life. The birds seems quiet while alone but they make some loud note calls while in pairs or in groups.

They forage on ground mostly on the shores of lakes and rivers, swamps to hunt for insects, amphibians small mammals and snails.

I was also of previlage to visit some part of Queen Elizabeth National Park in the evening where I managed to see a avariety of wildlife, many I couldn't photo them because they were too far away, maybe i need a bigger zoom lens than this I use (18-200mm).
But seeing the tallest animal infront of me was so amazing

He was protruding his long neck to look at everything closeby, this was so magical experience.

Turning to the other side, the Warthog was there crossing over, he was a male one. And of the funniest story my teacher/ guide taught me was that this animal is would be actually one of the fastest creatures we would be having but he has short memory. For instance, when a lion sets off to catch him,he runs very faster than a lion and then in a few minutes when the lion pretends to completely stop, he immediately forgets why he was running and in so doing, he starts jumping around and coming back to the side of the lion. The lion is there waiting and targeting to catch him,he then swiftly jumps off and grabs him and kills.

So the moment I see him, I directly recall of the funny story !!! hahaha!

Funny story about the warthog.
Queen Elizabeth was areally nice experience for us.
We made a boat tour and that was the best of our holiday.
All the animals came to the water and we were so happy to see them so near.

Oh yes! The Warthog usually reminds of the story. I love nature so much Mum.
