DIGITAL EYE STRAIN (DES)

This is a terminology used for a variety of eye conditions and sight related symptoms which can be traced to prolonged use of digital devices.
In this high technology era, use of digital devices is inevitable as it has become one of the daily routine to always check the internet either for information or as a source of livelihood.
Bloggers and digital traders spends almost there working hours using one digital device or the other.

DES also known as computer vision syndrome or visual fatigue is one of the global problems that affects people regardless of age,gender and nationality.
One can ask if kids suffer from this,the answer is YES. Kids tends to learn faster through visual methods than oral and they won't complain no matter how long they watch their favorite cartoon.

WHAT CAUSES DES
DES can be caused by many factors which includes:

  1. Duration spent in front of a digital device.
  2. The distance between digital device and the
    eyes.
  3. The number of times a device is used in a day.
  4. The number of device used at the same time.
  5. The light intensity of the device and that of the environment.
    COMMON SYMPTOMS OF DES.
    According to American Optometric Association,the common symptoms of Digital eye strain include:
  6. Burry vision
  7. Dry eyes
  8. Trouble focusing at a distance or object
  9. Headache
  10. Neck,back and shoulder pain.

    Since it's impossible to stop the use of digital devices especially for bloggers and traders,it is therefore Paramount to establish a healthy working relationship with our digital assets while we continue to enjoy the numerous benefits from the digital world.
    EYE CARE TIPS WHILE WORKING WITH DIGITAL DEVICES.
    1.Adjust the brightness of the phone considering your environment.
  11. Take breaks, don't be a workaholic, consider your health while working.
  12. Limit screen time.
    4 Use artificial tears ( eye drops),it helps to release visual fatigue.
  13. Visit your optometrist.
