Healthy relationships are built on a foundation of trust, mutual respect, communication, and common values and ideas. They involve listening, open and honest communication, and to be able to empathize and support each other through difficult times. Healthy relationships also encourages respect for each other's boundaries.
However, there are challenges facing relationships and requires effort and commitment from both partners or parties to maintain. Conflicts, disagreements, and misunderstandings can arise, and it is important to work through these issues together in a very respectful and matured manner.
No matter how tough a relationship will be, it is good to prioritize your health and emotion first and set boundaries that will enhance this for you. This means recognizing your own needs and limitations, and communicating them to others in a clear and respectful way. Additionally, healthy relationships are built on a foundation of mutual trust, respect, and support.
Relationships involving two persons (A boy and a girl)
Relationships involving a boy and a girl do happens in many forms, which includes romantic relationships, friendships, or professional relationships. But for today, I'll be talking about romantic form of relationship between a guy and a girl.
In romantic relationship, which is sometimes called a "boyfriend and girlfriend" relationship is a one involving two opposite sex(or same in some countries) who are genuinely interested in each other and want to be partners of themselves. In this type of relationship, the two partners communicate openly about expectations, boundaries, and needs in order to build a strong and healthy relationship. This type of relationship is the type we see everyday.

Let's talk more about friendship and professional relationships.
Friendships between boys and girls is very important and can provide opportunities for mutual support and growth. Importantly, it is good that we respect each other's boundaries and avoid any behaviour that could be interpreted as romantic or sexual if it is not desired or reciprocated. This type of relationships when taken cared of, last longer than some marriages.
In professional relationships, it is important to maintain appropriate boundaries and avoid any behaviour that could be interpreted as inappropriate or unprofessional. Mutual respect and clear communication about expectations and boundaries are important for building a successful and productive working relationship.
Let's know that our main focus today is on the romantic form of relationship.
Healthy and unhealthy relationships
Understanding the differences between healthy and unhealthy relationships is important in order to build and maintain good and long lasting relationships with others.
Healthy Relationships:
- Are built on a foundation of trust, mutual respect, and open communication.
- Allow individuals or partners to have respect for each other's boundaries.
- Involve active listening, empathy, and ability to work through conflicts and disagreements in a respectful manner.
- We notice healthy relationship by mutual support, appreciation, and encouragement.
- Encourage personal growth and development, both individually and as a couple.
With the above, if truly implemented in any relationship, that relationship will last long and partners will have respect for each other.
Unhealthy Relationships:
- Involve behaviours such as disrespect, manipulation, and control.
- Lack of trust, communication and transparency.
- Mostly having one person exerting control or power over the other.
- Can be emotionally or physically abusive, and may involve behaviors such as name-calling or physical violence.
- Are often characterized by a lack of mutual support and appreciation, and may be marked by jealousy, possessiveness, or resentment.
It is important we notice when a relationship is unhealthy and to take steps and important measures to address any issues in a constructive, matured and well respectful manner. This may involve setting boundaries, seeking support from friends or family, or seeking professional counseling.
Also, healthy relationships are built on a foundation of mutual respect, trust, and open communication, and require effort and commitment from both parties to maintain over time.

Warning signs of abusive relationships.
Abusive relationships can be difficult to identify, as the warning signs are mostly disguised as "normal" behaviour. However, it's good that we notice these signs in a relationship so that we can take action to protect ourselves or someone you know.
Here are some warning signs to look out for:
Control: The abuser may try to control what their partner wears, who they see, and where they go to. They may also try to control their partner's finances or limit their access to resources. This is the major type of abuse.
Isolation: The abuser may try to isolate their partner from friends and family members, making it difficult for them to maintain outside relationships. I temrmthis "Lockdown relationship".
Intimidation: The abuser may use threats, yelling, or other forms of intimidation to control their partner's behaviour or actions.
Blame: The abuser may blame their partner for their own actions or problems, or make them feel guilty or responsible for the abuse. This one is common with girls. They always try to put their blames on their guys. Sometimes, they will explain to you until you start feeling guilty.
Verbal abuse: The abuser may use insults, name-calling, or other forms of verbal abuse to degrade and control their partner. In Nigeria, girls can do this very well. Most guys in my country take the 1st, 2nd and 3rd types I've listed here.
Physical abuse: The abuser may physically harm their partner, including hitting, slapping, kicking, or pushing.
Stalking: The abuser may engage in stalking behaviour, such as following their partner or monitoring their online activities.
If you or someone you know is experiencing any of these warning signs, it's important to seek help and support. These are signs that a relationship won't last. It's better you end it... No matter what.

Is trust and love the same?
No not at all. Trust and love are not the same, although they are related and mostly go hand in hand in healthy relationships.
Trust refers to a belief or confidence in someone's reliability, honesty, and integrity. It involves a willingness to rely on someone else to fulfill their commitments and behave in a responsible manner. Trust can be built over time through consistent actions and behaviours that demonstrate transparency and honesty.
Love, on the other hand, is an emotion characterized by affection and caring. It involves a deep connection and sense of intimacy with another person. Love can be unconditional, whereas trust is often conditional on someone's actions and behaviours.
Trust is important in building and maintaining a healthy and loving relationship, as it allows individuals to feel safe and secure with each other. Love can also help to strengthen trust by creating a sense of closeness and common values.
Trust and love are different concepts, but they are both important components of healthy relationships. Trust provides a foundation for love to flourish, while love can help to reinforce and strengthen trust over time.

Conclusion
Being in a relationship is good, but we have to be with the right partner in order to enjoy it to the fullest. Also, relationship shouldn't be a place where you'll break your own boundaries just to make others feel special. It supposed to be mutual, with equal love, affection and sacrifices.
